Code of Conduct

Updated: Dec 7, 2024

At Jan’s School of Dance, we are committed to fostering a positive, respectful, and safe environment for all dancers, staff, and families. Inappropriate behavior or misconduct will not be tolerated. The following policy outlines the types of misconduct that may result in immediate dismissal from the studio.

Unacceptable Conduct

Misconduct includes, but is not limited to, the following behaviors:

  • Bullying, Harassment, or Intimidation: Verbal, physical, or emotional abuse, including cyberbullying, towards any student, staff, parent, or guest. Discrimination: Any behavior or language that discriminates based on race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, disability, or any other protected characteristic.

  • Violence: Any physical altercation, threat of violence, or dangerous behavior.

  • Substance Abuse: Use, possession, or distribution of illegal drugs, alcohol, or other controlled substances on studio premises or at studio events.

  • Inappropriate Social Media Conduct:

  • Posting harmful or offensive content related to the studio, its staff, parents, events, or students on social media platforms.

  • Theft or Property Damage: Stealing, damaging, or vandalizing studio property or the belongings of others.

  • Non-compliance with Safety Protocols:

  • Failure to follow studio safety protocols, including those related to health, injury prevention, or emergency procedures.

Disciplinary Action

Misconduct will be investigated and addressed by the studio owners at their discretion. Depending on the severity of the incident, disciplinary action may include any of the following: formal warning (verbal or written), temporary suspension from classes, performances, or studio events, immediate dismissal from the studio, with no refund of fees for tuition or other services.

For students under the age of 18, it is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to ensure that the student adheres to the studio’s Code of Conduct. Parents or guardians may also face consequences, including being restricted from attending studio events if their behavior is found to be disruptive or in violation of this policy.

By enrolling in classes at Jan’s School of Dance, all students, parents, and guardians agree to comply with this policy and understand that failure to do so may result in dismissal from the studio.
