Now that you've joined, you're probably wondering what happens next. Below is a general timeline of what you can expect during our dance season. Also, feel free to bookmark our Calendar page so you know when the studio is closed and other important dates.
Our season begins the day after Labor Day. Dance curriculums and technique are the primary focus for the first few months of the season. During these months, we also measure for costumes. Watch out for various fun events occurring during these months, such as the Fall Festival Parade, Bring A Friend week, and the Newburgh Holiday Light Parade (note: the events we participate in may differ from year to year).
Starting in January, we begin teaching Recital choreography that incorporates the techniques and skills learned earlier in the season. We also begin Production practices for the Opening Act of Recital. Costumes are ordered and fitted during the early months of the new year.
Jan's Dance Company (our competitive dance team) starts competing in regional competitions during the months of February through May. Keep an eye on Facebook for competition results! This is also a time when teachers are cleaning (fine-tuning) their choreography and getting our students ready for their big performance.
Our mandatory dress rehearsal is the day before recital. Our recital is always the first Sunday after Memorial Day. For dates and other specific details about recital, click here.
After recital, we take a break for one week and then our Summer Program begins and runs for 6 weeks in June and July.
After the Summer Program ends, we break for the summer and are closed until our season begins again on the day after Labor Day.
